Hello! I'm a designer and front-end developer currently helping to tell stories at The New York Times. I also teach Algorithmic Botany at the School for Poetic Computation and interaction design at the Parsons School of Design.
I care deeply about the craft of digital design from concept to code. Before any designing or coding happens, I try my best to understand the narrative, the why, of what I’m building, whether it’s interactive journalism, a t-shirt, or a digital product. I researched, designed, and developed this story about the linguistic impacts of hip-hop for the New York Times Magazine. The design was process was one of ruthless simplification until we arrived at this “totem pole” layout.
